Before you start

What you need

• A laptop or desktop computer. Phones and tablets work poorly for coding questions.
• A recent version of Chrome, Firefox, Edge or Safari.
• A stable internet connection.
• Enough uninterrupted time. If the assessment has a time limit, you will see it on the instructions screen before you begin.

The clock starts when you start

If the assessment is timed, the deadline is fixed the moment you begin. It keeps running if you close the tab, lose your connection, or walk away.

Do not open the assessment to "have a look" unless you are ready to sit it.

Before the questions

You will be asked for some details — which ones depends on the company that invited you. After that you will see a privacy notice explaining what is recorded, and an instructions screen listing anything the company has enabled.

Read the instructions screen. It is generated from that specific assessment's settings, so it tells you exactly what applies to you.

Your link is yours

Your invitation link is tied to your email address. Forwarding it to someone else does not work, and if your address is misspelled the link cannot be corrected by forwarding — ask the company to re-send it to the right address.
