The Library

Ready-made assessments and questions you can copy into your own account instead of writing from scratch. Library in the top navigation.

What is in it

Two tabs — Tests and Questions — and two scopes:

Public is the official Test Utopia library: assessments and questions we write and maintain, covering common technologies and roles.

Company is your own. Anything your team publishes internally appears here, which is how a good assessment written by one recruiter becomes available to the rest of the organisation instead of living in one person's account.

Browse by language, difficulty level and category, search by text, and sort — including by Most Cloned, which is the closest thing to a popularity signal across all customers.

Who can use what

Every plan can open the Library. What you can copy out of it depends on your plan, because each item carries a required tier.

Your planWhat you can import
Free, Basic, AdvancedItems at or below your own tier
Professional and aboveEverything, regardless of an item's tier
Self-serve trialFree-tier items only

So the Library is not a single locked door. A Basic account browses the whole catalogue and can import the entry-level material; the specialised and senior-level content is what Professional unlocks.

Items above your tier are still visible, with their required plan shown in place of the import button. That is deliberate — knowing what you would get is the point of showing it.

GOTCHA: a self-serve trial gets Free-level library access, not Professional-level. The trial is backed by the Professional plan for most purposes, and the Library is the deliberate exception: a fourteen-day trial that could clone the entire paid catalogue would be a way to take the catalogue rather than to evaluate the product. Every other trial entitlement is unaffected.

Why import rather than write

A question you write is a question you know the provenance of, and that matters — see Question types. But writing a good code question takes an hour or more, and most assessments need several.

The sensible pattern is to import a library assessment as a starting point, then replace the questions that matter most to you with your own. You get a working structure immediately, and your distinctive signal stays yours.

One thing to weigh: library content is available to other customers, so candidates may have seen it. For a first-stage screen that is usually an acceptable trade. For a final-stage assessment that decides an offer, write your own — or at minimum swap the highest-weighted questions.
